Last week, the Indiana State Department of Health reported that one of the measles patients was downtown for Super Bowl events. It was determined that the person visited The Huddle on Feb. 3. The Huddle was an indoor area of shops and restaurants where the former Nordstrom's was located. Officials say all of the cases are in Boone and Hamilton Counties and involve children and adults. Additional cases are being investigated and the Indiana State Department of Health will continue to provide information as it becomes available. According to court records, Vincent also faces a charge of false informing, a class B misdemeanor, because he originally identified himself as Darren Burke to sheriff department staff after his arrest. The two men were arrested during a rally that began outside the courthouse.

Kokomo To Host Distinguished Young Women Scholarship Program

For over 50 years, Indiana high school girls have participated in the Distinguished Young Women scholarship program, formerly the America's Junior Miss scholarship program.

COPY:

For the first time, the City of Kokomo will host the Indiana program which attracts young ladies from across the state. Police have not filed any charges against Funke in the case because they have not found Armstrong’s body. Funke remains behind bars on unrelated charges. KPD Capt. First offenders facing misdemeanor charges in Indiana are frequently offered what's called pretrial diversion: pay a state-mandated fee and stay out of trouble, and the charge will be dropped. Marion County adds a community service requirement -- but for the Super Bowl, there's a twist: instead of community service, out-of-towners can donate 100 bucks to the Clothe-a-Child charity. Deputy prosecutor Allison Broviak rejects charges that the offer creates separate justice standards for rich and poor. . The donate-your-way-out option is not available to local residents. Local authorities have joined forces with Homeland Security, the FBI, the Secret Service, and the National Guard. Coordinating all of the agencies has been a big job, but so far has been successful.
Public Safety Director Frank Straub says security will continue to ramp up until game day. "On Super Bowl Sunday, Lucas Oil and the White House will enjoy the same level of security," he said. Crowds have been thick in downtown Indianapolis since the Super Bowl Village opened last week, but that doesn't mean you can get lost in the crowd. 85 cameras are constantly scanning the 3 block stretch between the Convention Center and the Banker's Life Fieldhouse. The House voted 61-34 Tuesday afternoon to approve the statewide ban. Casinos, private clubs, cigar and hookah bars and retail tobacco stores would all be exempted under the House plan. Indiana bars would also get an 18-month reprieve before the measure kicks in. The ban now moves to Indiana's Senate where anti-smoking advocates have had little success in the past. Republican Rep. The analysis is from the State Utility Forecasting Group, a state-funded panel of researchers based at Purdue University.
Director Douglas Gotham says Indiana is expected to experience larger price increases than projected on a regional or national level. About 85% of the electricity used in Indiana is generated by coal-fired power plants, compared with about 45% nationwide.
